I have 7 hens now and the oldest ones are 22 week old golden wyandottes and are not laying yet but the barred rock and the brahmas are 21 weeks old and have just started to lay. My youngest 2, another wyandotte and an ee are 19 weeks old and nothing from them yet. Hang in there - it will be very exciting when the eggs start coming and then trying to figure out which hen laid it.

When I first got my chickens we thought that one of them was an ee but it turned out to be a dark Cornish, she is one if the ones that is squatting, I hope she lays

I have 3 BR and 3 BO…all showed the squat for several weeks before an egg…and the last to start laying would intermittently squat for 3 months before her first egg, but from the first, hers have all been XL. For my pullets, the sign that seemed most reliable was the color change in the comb, wattles to a definite red vs pink, and then the eggs started coming.
