When will my chickens stop peeping?

A cluck can come in as early as five weeks or as late as 20 weeks in my personal experience. I currently have a five week old roo who has started to try a sort of high pitched cock-a-doodle-do and then he clucks a bit but then goes back to his usual peeping. The other three from his 'batch', all the same age, two roos and a pullet, all peep.

I had a pullet last year who peeped literally until she laid her first egg at 20 weeks, then she came out doing that typical 'OMG! I just invented the egg!!!' screaming and squawking they do.....and never peeped again!!!

Well you did not state the age of your chicks and happyhens1972 is correct up to 20 weeks but that also has to do with breed of the chicken and a fast developer like an EE will start crowing by weeks 10 to 12 normally and others will crow at 30 weeks just all part of the chicken bread ........

The roo I spoke of is an EE and is definitely trying a feeble but discernable crow at five weeks so by 10 to 12 weeks, I imagine he'll be a well practised champion!!! Lol! I so hope I can find him a home

Thanks Gander! My Red Stars just turned five weeks so it'll probably be a while. The RIR's are a week behind them...
