I have 6 BR pullets that are 23 weeks old. The first started to lay at 21 weeks and is now laying an egg per day. Two others started to lay this week. However, they are all laying the same size small egg. When will the eggs get bigger? When my comets started laying it seemed that the eggs they got biggger within a week. I believe my comets have spoiled me and I might be a bit impatient.

What do you think?

I have had (or currently have) both Red Comets and BR, and I agree with oakhunter - it will take a few more weeks for the BR eggs to get any bigger, and they probably will not get as big as the Comets. The Comets have been bred specifically for big egg laying, whereas the BR are a dual-purpose backyard breed. Both birds have their pros and cons, it's just what is most important to you.

All giggles aside... my pullets started laying about a month ago. They are almost all laying daily now, AND their egg size is ALMOST as big as my BO hens that were already laying (AND never laid any dinky practice eggs)

Hang in there! It's taking mine a while, but it's happening.
