When will these two lay?

Another reason why I prefer a higher protein feed. Helps balance out any lower protein extras like veggies and scratch. Layer feed is formulated to be the only thing fed. And the 16% protein content allows for very little wiggle room, in terms of treats.

It's my experience that some breeds need more protein to mature than others. Easter Eggers, in particular, do best on a feed with at least 18% protein.

I've had EEs 4 times over the years from several different places. They have always been some of my best layers and were usually on 16% layer feed. I do like higher protein at times & especially if feeding the normal name brand feeds.

They're on organic layer pellets.
Is there something simple I can add?
I'm on fixed income - can't afford spendy feeds.
IME anything with 'organic' on the label is definitely 'spendy'.

I also feed all flock type feeds (20-22%) and oyster shell on the side,
makes things so much simpler with a multi age and gender flock,
not to mention the balancing of 'other foods/treats'.
I regularly give scratch in a proportion that gives 18-19% overall protein.

Yes. I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and must use organic feed. What I meant to say is I cannot go out and buy MORE feed until payday.
