When will they hatch!!?

Hi everyone!
I've only recently started to hatch chicks and I'm a total newbie! I got all my info from BYC and its a great website( if you haven't joined yet I suggest you do it NOW!)
I'm hatching 10 chicken eggs and its day 22 now but only 2 of the 10 chicks have hatched the others show no sign of pipping and one of them might have been cracked by the hatched chickens so I put a piece of cardboard dividing the chickens from the eggs! They're a boisterous pair!

If anyone have any info on why my other 8 eggs haven't hatched yet please reply!!!
A worried first time hatcher is waiting!

Hi and welcome to BYC.

It can depend on when one begins to count day 1 of incubation. Day one should begin the day after eggs are set. If you counted from the day you set the eggs , then all is well. I do understand that incubator temp can also influence hatch times, but I'll leave that aspects to the experts. You can post on the "incubating and hatching eggs" or the hatch a long forum for advice from the experts.

The chicks will be fine for up to 48 after hatching, so fingers crossed your others decide to make an appearance soon.

I hope by now you've got a few more fluffy butts in the incubator? In my experience with both broody hens and incubator hatches, the hatch is usually spread out over 2-3 days, sometimes longer. I've had a chick hatch on day 25 under a broody hen once! Unfortunately they don't clock watch like we do, and hatch when they feel like it

Sadly only 2/10 chicks hatched out of my home made incubator, I waited for about 5 days after the first two hatched but nothing happened not even a pip!
At least I have two nearly 3 weeks old chickens now!

Another problem!! One of my chicks is making sneezing sounds and sounds quite wheezy! She keeps stretching her neck up and opening her beak, her feathers look ruffled as well. I don't know what to do! I think she is sick or too cold. Anyone know what to do please help!!
