When will they stop being afraid of me?

My 2 cents - I have had quite a few additions of chicks as well as pullets to my flock they were all afraid of me even though I interacted with them daily. Once they were integrated into the large flock they took the cues from my older girls. They come running for treats and even let me pet them. I don't stress about it anymore they always come around. They don't sit on my lap or on my head but they know who I am and are very receptive to me and I'm sure it has nothing to do with food lol. Eggs and entertainment. I'm sure someday I will find a sweet girl who wants to sit on my lap and cuddle haha sorry that line should have come out of a man's mouth lol.

ahhhhh very good to know. mine have hit three weeks and i can hardly change the water or check the feed with out them skittishly freaking out and running from me.

I will try these experiences and see how it works.

thanks!!!

Talk to them when you give them a treat. They will associate your voice and appearance with good things to eat, and sooner or later, they will run toward you instead of running away.

Patience is all it takes. The girls are now 2 months old and come running through the pen when they hear my voice out the back door. Thank you for all the replies...I now have 13 more in brooders...so much for a "small flock" haha.

Ditto. 33 and counting. They all come running when I open the pen, the 6 oldest are jealous of each other when one sits in my lap and all try. (even the 8 month old BCM rooster). The 27 littles are ogling the lap sitters, so I think they will soon join in.
