When you find something, do you turn it in?

I turn everything in except, I admit, cash. Cash can too easily be 'claimed' by just anyone, so I consider it good luck on my part. Unless however it was a large, identifiable sum of cash, that would be different. But if I find a $5 bill on the sidewalk, and no one is around who might have just dropped it, then I keep it.

I turn stuff in. I found a wallet at work once in the bathroom and when I looked at the name I knew the person worked in one of the admin buildings. So I went and tracked the guy down and returned it. He gave opened it up and gave me a funny look and asked if I opened it. I said just enough to see your id. He said he was glad I was the one that found it since he went to the bank before and had a "large" sum of money in it. I always wondered what "large" ment to him. lol

I always turn in items I find. Depending on the situation, I'm not always as good about cash. If I see who dropped it (whether it's a $1 or $100), I always do, but if I find cash and no one is around, I don't generally try to track stangers down. Unless I overhear someone saying they lost it, in which case I definately return whatever it is. That's happened a couple times.

I turn found items in if they would be of value in any way to the person who lost it be it monetary or sentimental.

I was at the Police station once- and saw a guy come to retrieve his handed in wallet. He stated his name and described the wallet and the officer went out back to look. Next thing there were three officers coming out the side door approaching the man... They spoke a moment- about what was actually in the wallet- he was handcuffed and escorted out the back.... He must have really wanted his licence and cards back...But Im sure he thought that whoever found it would remove the illegal drugs before handing it in to the police!!!

Yes.

I turn things in that I have found. Heck one time I found $150 on the side of the road when walking and about 30ft down the road I found an electric bill that was made out for $150. I went to a local store and paid the bill. I figured the money and bill belonged together. Now had there not been anything to prove who or what the money belonged to then yes I would have keep it. Its not like I was going to go door to door asking strangers if they had lost $150.
