When You Ordered Pullets, How Many Were Roos?

Mine were feed store chicks, and all were supposed to be pullets...out of the four original chicks (2 RIR & 2 GSL), one RIR ended up a roo...went back 4 weeks later and came home with two 2 week olds- BO and a BR-definitely girls...started with 4 and ended with five (re-homed the roo to a friend who lost one to a predator)...chicken math once again!

Two years ago when I first got into chicks I bought a total of 40 chicks from 3 different places all supposed to be pullets, I got 2 roos out of the 40 not bad at all, I was very pleased as the 2 roos were great. A weasel killed them both last year, I still miss them. RIP Luke and BobPants. Love ya.

i got 50 random chicks from ideal this year, and so far there is only one rooster. im still waiting for my luck to turn though and have a dozen more start looking like roosters, but really good odds right now.

Mine were also feed store chicks. Last year I got 8 all turned out to be pullets, This year 6 all pullets. I guess I've just been lucky.

The chicks I ordered from MPC were supposed to be 5 pullets. 4 definitely are, 1 the jury is still out on! We're really thinking its a roo though, just waiting for the first crow- its almost 3 months! Maybe he will lay an egg instead and fool us all??

I bought in addition to my 5 a total of 20 Bantams all different kinds. 7 Definite Roo's, 3 Unsure's, and, the rest hens! I've been noticing I've been bonding more with the little roo's than the hens- before i know what they are! It stinks! I wish I lived in the country and I didn't have to worry about breakin the law- or annoying neighbors!

Last year we ordered 20 pullets and one roo. We got 20 pullets and one roo.

This year we order 10 pullets and I'm pretty sure they're all pullets, because they're sex-linked.
