when your chicks arrive in the mail - does the PO call you?

Your lucky....I wouldn't trust my mailman.. sometimes he skips my house

same here...my post man is just....shady!

The best person to ask is the one who works at your local P.O. It depends upon the individual. I have made it a point to get to know mine, so every time I have eggs coming in they will call me and wait for me to get there before they even open. Make friends with them, it will really help.

They have my phone number on a call sheet, but I always stop by to let them know I have a shipment coming. They are the greatest!

I called my PO a week or two before I was expecting them to arrive. The first time, the PO called me and I whizzed down to pick them up. The second time I got no call but looked out the window at 9:30am to see a mail truck pull up to my house. My normal delivery isn't until late afternoon so he had made a special trip just to drop off the chicks (not sure how much was being a nice guy and how much he was motivated by self-interest because he said they were LOUD

) Anyway, I commented to him that he could have called and I would have saved him a trip but he said there was no number to call me so he had to drop them off. After he left I looked at the address label and there in big type was my phone number with a message to please call immediately for pick up. Oh well, no harm, no foul, since he DID deliver them very early anyway.

i ordered mine last year and i told my post office 2 days before they were comeing that i had a order and to call me as soon as they get them . well they told me the first person gets there at 5am and they would give me a call . so i was up at 4am waiting for the phone to ring at 5am. well now its 7am still no call . so i said i will call them so i did and sure enough the chicks were there i gave the lady my name she checked the boxes of chicks yup yours are here. the lady said oh i thought they were all one order because there were like 4 boxes of poultry for someone else. i drove over went to the back door got my chicks. i guess its a good thing i called hard telling how long they would have been there.

Call the PO in advance telling them you should have chicks arriveing on whatever date it is. Also give them your phone number, they should call you when they arrive.

I would make it VERY CLEAR that the chicks are not to leave the post office and they are to call and I will come get them. Suppose your house is the last house on the letter carrier's route. Do you really want your chicks riding around in someone's vehicle all day? Suppose that person likes their vehicle a little bit colder than most?

Nah, my chicks will be waiting for me at the post office and I'll be running the heater full blast on the way to pick them up and all the home.

that really is a good thing you called, if they thought they were all one order, what if they would have sent yours with the others?!? Wow..

I called my PO the day before mine were suppose to come and they call me back 5 minutes later saying they had chicks for me.

It does help to make nice with the PO people, this years order I'm on the list of people to call when the truck pulls in around 6am. He has chick people waiting in the lobby and passes them out.
