When your hens stop laying....

So I have a question about hens and laying.
I have a 1 yr old hen who hatched 6 chicks 9 weeks ago.
She took care of them for 4 weeks, then let them fend for themselves.
they did fine....
My hen started laying again week later....but 10 days after producing an egg a day she has stopped laying. So I haven't seen an egg for a week. Is there a chance she will lay eggs again? and why do they stop? does she need some kind of psychological treatment or nutrition to start laying again?
Is she molting? Mine are molting in this hot weather and many have stopped laying because of it.

I have 2 young hens that refuse to lay eggs in population. They are allowed to free range our human house part of the property. We have a milk crate close to the back patio deck and they both lay just about everyday. Less stress I believe. They are Easter Eggers. So we make breakfast on the weekends by just walking out the back door and snatching a 1 hour old egg or two. Poor little girls.

I sell my non-layers. I will probably move to butchering them sometime in the next few years, except in the case of those that sorta capture my heart. They get to stay on as pets and live out their years.

We plan to keep ours as pets; we're quite attached to our ladies! However, after all the research we've done and getting used to the wonderful taste of fresh eggs we wouldn't dare go back to buying eggs. We're thinking we'll get a couple laying hens after our girls have stopped ;)
Chicken math, huh?

Hello,

I do not nor ever will cull any of my chickens.
They are my family, let along my best friends.

When they stop laying, I let them make the decision.
They will die at some point, but until then I help them through.

They last as long as they can and die only when ready.
Mine are 6 - 7 years of age...(Oldest)...They are still laying.
