When'd yours start laying?

if you have this breed can you tell me when yours started laying? (Mine are 17, almost 18 *next wed.* weeks old)

ive got a barred rock and she didnt start laying til she was 24 weeks old but all chickens are different

I have 4 barred rocks and 2 RIRs that I got as chicks on March 17th.

They still haven't laid yet.

4 of them have very bright red combs and they seem to take interest in the laying boxes I supplied.

But I check theentire runa nd coop 2X per day and I STILL have no eggs

Almost all my chickens started laying between 18-20 weeks.

I have a beautiful barred rock but no eggs from him!!

I don't have the breeds you do otherwise but I do have 3 white rock hens. Arrived March 14. All 3 laid their 1st egg last Sunday. I have brown leghorns, astralop and easter egger who have not laid yet.

It's like Christmas...you wait and wait and then it happens and you're so excited. Hang it there they are gonna come thru for you soon.

are the chickens allowed to free range if so they may be hiding the eggs somewhere they think is more secure

Our bantam cochins started laying at exactly 19 weeks. Our ISA Browns started at 18 weeks.

I made scrambled eggs from the first 18 cochin eggs and it fed all 3 of us!

Hens listed in my siggy - no eggs yet. We got all of the Delightful Dozen in April - still waiting - I am sure they will start to lay once I go back to teaching school! Then DH or DSs will find the 1st eggs! Not fair, it was my idea!

My Silver Sebrights start to lay at around 16-18 weeks old. 20 at the latest. Mine lay very good. I heard of Sebrights laying poorly, not my strain. They lay every day. guess i got lucky
