I am SO FRUSTRATED!!! I have done a google search for two entire days trying to find a breeder or hatchery that will sell me a started or juvenile female silkie that is crested and bearded. I have looked online all over the United States. I sent about 30 emails but no luck!:tongue I prefer buff colored or splash, but will consider other colors. Can not have roos. I already have a white and a blue. I have also looked at names on Poultry Central. No luck. Just day olds and unsexed. :jumpy Does anyone know someone or some place that has such silkies available now? 🙏🙏

I don't know of anyone selling started silkie pullets but Meyer hatchery does sell sexed silkie chicks

Most of the time most places just sell started pullets of the most popular breeds kept for eggs. Silkies, while they can be kept for eggs are considered an ornamental breed and while they are by no means rare, they aren't popular enough for most places to raise them as started pullets. Not saying that places that sell started silkie pullets don't exist, but you are going to have a tough time finding any place that has them.
Alternatively, you can also see if someone in your area has silkie pullets or hens that they need to rehome. If you go that route make absolutely sure to quarantine the new bird for a month far away from your existing birds.

In any case, good luck!

Good advice. Especially about quarantine. Thank you!

Chick season is almost over and as you've found most everyone has already sold out for the rest of the year. You might could find someone locally selling pullets through Facebook or Craigslist or by going to poultry/farm swaps, markets, or fairs/shows. Otherwise, you may just have to wait until next year. Wishing you the best of luck.

Try Feathered Fusion Silkies, in Glen Rock, PA:

It's off-season for many breeders, but you can probably put in a special order. You may have to pay for a DNA test for sexing, but that's not usually too expensive. Good Luck!

I would just buy straight-run. You will not know their sex for about 3-4 months, perhaps longer, or have them all DNA'd, which costs anywhere from $5 to $8, which I pay, to as much as $20 each.

Silkies are usually easy to sell/giveaway, especially if you offer a pair; hen and roo, so I'd get some extras.

Did you try Bobbi Porto at www.indigoegg.us

Text her and ask. You'll pay dearly, as I have three times, but they're beautiful. :)
