Wow, I didn't realize there were so many chickeny people in st louis! I'm in U city myself.
kycklingar! :
Hi! I'm in St. Louis City! I have 4 chickens, and my neighbor does too. I'd love to join a group! In fact, I have a 3rd neighbor that's going to get chicks this summer. Instead of ordering from a hatchery, would you be interested in hatching out eggs? My hens lay fertile eggs. They would hatch easter-eggers, or australorp-EE crosses.
One of my neighbors wants to order unusual breeds from McMurray Hatchery this summer, but they require minimums of 6 per breed you order... anyone want to join together and split the order so you can have variety in your flock?
I love this forum.
Hey, I'd be interested in getting some chicks from McMurray, only two or three though I'm afraid. Or, would you be willing to sell me a couple of your chicks when they hatch? I love easter egg chickens!

Dang! My neighbor decided to go to Orscheln 2 days ago, and I went to Jerseyville farm and home for my day-olds today. I'm soooo excited, though! 2 new ones for my flock!
For now, my hens and roos have been separate. I was putting them together for some fertile eggs but my hubby just saw the eggs on the counter and put them in the fridge. GAH!

How long have you been doing this and what do the neighbors think?
Well, I've had them since August, and I even have 2 roosters (not on purpose... but that's the dish life deals you, eh?)
My neighbors couldn't care a lick about the hens, and I've even gone to personally ask each neighbor on the block what they think about the roos. Keep in mind I put them in the garage to muffle their crowing and let them out at what I consider a reasonable time each morning. So far, all the neighbors LOVE the sound of crowing during the day! I am so relieved. Also, sharing eggs helps keep the peace and goodwill.
