Where are you getting scrap wood?

Okay. I am SO going to spank my husband.

I was mentioning the pallets to my husband (I looked up pallets on craigslist and you guys were right. There are tons of them!). Anyhow, he goes "Yeah. We use to throw those out at work all the time. The Asian market up the street has tons of them out by their dumpster."

Men, I tell ya. He's going to ask the Asian market if he can have their pallets. The market is LITERALLY right up the block, one stop sign away. I wonder if they have some plywood too.....

good for you! they're kinda hard to take apart but once you get a rythym it's not to bad. I got some free wood from Home Depot yesterday, I was buying a sheet of plywood and asked if I could have the scraps in the trash barrel, they said sure Good stuff shorter 2x4's and boards n stuff.

My dh is a contractor so we always have lots of scraps here. All my coops are built of scraps.

You could advertise for them. Some people tear down old barns/sheds and usually just burn the scraps...

I found 3 sheds on Craig's list, to tear down. All on the same property. One was used as a 2+ car garage, and the other 2 are like 12' x 12' or so. I was thrilled to find it was only 3 miles from my house! Has like 8 huge doors with hinges (big ones) that will be reused for sure.

Good luck!

Since you are getting those pallets, you may be interested in the "Pallet coops," on the coops pages. There are several really nice ones!
