My DD is handling her bantam white Wyandotte for the first time in a showmanship class this Saturday. I've put off buying the bantam SOP book, alas, and I need to find a copy of the bantam Wyandotte standard for her to review this week. I haven't had any luck with Google. Does anyone know if I can find it online somewhere? Thanks!

Both the SOP and Bantam Standard are copyrighted. Portions have been permitted online, but not a whole standard. Most of the support the APA/ABA get is from sales. So they prefer folks buy their own copy. You might try a local or regional library. Ours does not have one. Can't or won't get one. Have you tried the breeder you got them from?

Wish you well.

You can check the breed club. If you plan on really getting into showing, you should own a copy of the standard. You can get it on the APA site for $14 shipped. It's certainly a worthwhile investment.

Yes, I've been planning to buy the whole book for her but put it off too long for this upcoming show on the 8th. It's a novice showmanship class, so she won't need to know much, but she ought to at least know if her bird has any serious faults. Do you think if she looked at the large fowl Wyandotte standard most of it would apply to the bantam (with the exception of size, of course)? I did find the large fowl standard on line at the breeder's club site.

Also, I'm wondering where you've seen the SOP for $14. I can find the ABA bantam standards for $35, and the APA for $59 (yikes!), but no one seems to have the black and white in stock -- is that the $14 version?

This is why I've been putting off buying it for DD -- it's so pricey I've been holding out for her birthday. This upcoming show kind of snuck up on us, it's a small local fancier's club and we just found out about it. If I can just find out the major faults and/or DQs for white Wyandotte bantams and the proper weight I think she'll be okay, she's only 7. Alas, the bantam Wyandotte club doesn't have a website.

I knew she should have planned to bring her Silkie

(I had no trouble finding that standard online!), but she has her heart set on bringing "someone different" this time....
