1 more q before I'm set on getting some. We had a serious problem a few years ago with snakes eating our button quail. But they have never touched our chickens. Do you think they would consider pheasants as fair game?

oh... we live in east texas btw

Only thier eggs and the chicks are in danger of snakes. If you find a pair of amherts this time of year you are lucky. This is the time of year they are picking their mates, and they start to breed very soon.So usually if somebody has them this time of year they have them set up for breeding.I'm not saying you won't find any,but it will be a little harder to find some.

You can try,I'm just saying it is harder this time of year.I know a guy in Ma. that has a pair of breeders for sale.He is bringing them to a meet in No. Carolina.I could call him if you want them.
