Also if you want a pigeon instead, try the hillsdale livestock auction. Its held every saturday at the fair grounds in hillsdale mi. They have pigeons there every weekend. You have to buy them by the pen most of the time. Sometimes there are a lot of them per pen. rabbit auction starts at ten am. Poultry and pigeons follow that. Sometimes you can doves there too.

Someone mentioned "free ranging" pigeons. Understand that allowing pigeons to free loft or come and go as they choose usually results in them all being killed by Coopers hawks. My pigeons are trained to return to the loft on signal, and I still lose 30% or more of my flock to hawks each year. The adoption groups provide in most instances healthy birds. If you are plannning on keeping a bird caged inside, I would recommend two female doves. They are smaller and less messy and will provide companionship for one another. They may even pair up and produce eggs which needless to say will be infertile.

I googled pigeons for sale in Michigan and found several ads. I would also suggest adoption from Mickaboo or some other agency in your state if you have one. I have adopted 2 and I love them. Good luck.
