Where did my eggs go?

I have a couple of questions--I am assuming this is normal behavior for newly-laying hens, but my head lady, a speckled sussex named Meanie, started laying about 2.5 weeks ago. We had one beautiful little tan egg every other day for the first 1.5 weeks, and now nothing for a week. There have been no changes in their feed, location, herd, or weather. She appears healthy and is behaving normally, but no eggs! Is it normal for hens to be this irregular when starting to lay? Also, the eggs that we were getting from her a week ago were roughly the size of a tablespoon--will they get larger or will they always be this size?

It is common for them to stop after a week. They should start soon again, and yes the eggs will get bigger.
