Fancy is the babe that plopped that pink one. She's the one I thought would lay blue/green eggs. Her first egg was a brown egg...light brown...but brown. She doesn't lay every day...but today's egg is certainly not the same color as the few eggs she gave me before. It's pink. Do chickens have an inner kaleidoscope egg coloring thing? Do they change colors?
That's some perrrrtttyyyy eggies you have there! They sure can change color shape color is by how long that egg is in their body View attachment 1260003
blue, green, brown and pink
Lol, eggs are actually died, Blue eggs are actually blue (crack one open and the inside of the shell is blue too), green eggs are a brown tint on a blue egg, brown eggs are a brown tint on a white egg (inside of the shell is white). So, the longer the egg sits in the "paint bay" the darker it will get. From what I have heard with Marans (darkest brown eggs), the first few eggs a year will be the darkest and then the last few are about a normal brown as the "paint" runs out over time. So, likely your EE is a pink egger and the brown was the fluke.Fancy is the babe that plopped that pink one. She's the one I thought would lay blue/green eggs.
