I would use hardware cloth unless predators are not a problem in your area.

I used the chicken wire for the enclosure thingy outside the coop...and for the window.
Chicken wire is chicken proof, not predator proof.
So when you do catch them, definitely keep them in the coop at night, and definitely have a layer of hardware cloth (1/2 inch or smaller) on the window and vent openings. I use aviation snips to cut the stuff, and pavers to hold it down while cutting.
Not sure about predators...never had anything that would lure them in...I would use hardware cloth unless predators are not a problem in your area.
Thanks for the advice. I was looking at hardware cloth at the Ag Center but the clerk said that chicken wire would be sufficient. Should have gone with my first choice. I'll go over everything with hardware cloth.

After you get them secured, and can get close up pics of them showing side profile of head, and showing feet, we can then help you with breed and possibly age. I would not try to trap them individually, b/c if you catch one, the rest will become more wary and skittish. If you can trap them all in a single enclosure at once, that will be best. How high is their roosting spot on the antannae? Any chance of help from a co-worker? If you could come back after dark, that might be your best bet. But only if you can do so without risking your personal safety. Good luck.
