Where did they come from???

My guess is someone dumped them. They dont go that far. Mine has never left their property which is 2.5 acres. As far as catching them, as was suggested, when they go to roost at night they are "very" heavy sleepers. If you can, without a flash light just climb up behind them and pick them up off the roost. Hold them around the middle with wings immobilized.
I feel like your doing the right thing and if you do end up on u-tube well, that would be a bonus as I love a good video. LOL

I would ask around first and make sure. But you could catch them by following where they roost at night and taking them or setting up a pen and throwing food in it and closing it behind them. I hope other BYC members can help!

They do look like someone's backyard flock just took a vacation, haha, I once found mine at the local primary. I think you should just take them in then. They look like cross breeds to me

It's not a safe environment for them here at work. My coworkers and I thought maybe someone dumped them off. I will give them a safe home. If someone comes to my work inquiring about their lost chickens, I'll return them. But they have been living here for 3 weeks...

Wishing you the best with your flock. I suggest you create some sort of corral to lure them into with a hand full of scratch grain. The ideal enclosure will be of a decent size to allow them all to be comfortably herded into, and have a bird netting cover over it. Depending on the lay out of your work place, you could even create the entire enclosure with bird or deer netting which is practically invisible. Then, once the birds are enclosed, you can tighten up the perimeter of the fencing until you can easily catch them. The beauty of deer or bird netting is that it could then be dropped down over them to help secure them so you can catch all of them in one enclosure without the risk of catching one, and having the rest be so spooked that they fly into traffic, or are that much more resistant to being caught. Be sure your enclosure is not flimsy enough that they can run through it!

Congrats on a lovely small flock! Do you have a decent size dog crate? or can you borrow one? If so, place a dish of water and some tasty treats inside, hoping to lure them in. Might be easier than trying to climb up to where they are roosting <G>. Chickens aren't hard to learn about. You are off to a good start and there's a lot of help, information and support here.

I have a large live-animal trap that I was going to try to catch them. I can manually operate the door without the spring load, so that is good. A dish of Cheerios and Raisin Bran as the bait. They have taken to running to me when they see me so I'm hoping they will "trust" my plan. lol

BTW You said you were using chicken wire right?

I used the chicken wire for the enclosure thingy outside the coop...and for the window.
