Where did they come from???

Sure has been a lot of discussion I missed in a couple of days.

Woohoo! I'm now the proud owner of a 10x10 dog kennel to be repurposed into a chicken run! And...and...I fell into another sweet deal of another 10x10 dog kennel for $50! :yesss: You know...just in case that Chicken Math gets a grip on my ass...:wee

That just made me think, I have one of those dog kennels stacked behind my shed. I may just have to put that thing back together and let the chickens use it.

Interesting. It was maybe 10, they would have been from the 60's-70's though. I'm sure there's more of them out there. He probably left them in the yard and they got stepped on, or run over. Even if I found 100 of them I'd probably keep them though. I'm weird like that. I have a couple old Vietnamese coins my gpa had found in an old car in the 60's, totally worthless but he died when my dad was a kid, so it's like a memento type of thing.
I think that is cool stuff to keep. I have an old brass whistle my great grandfather found.

My chickens are at my parent's place which they bought after my gma died and was my dad's childhood home. Back in the olden days before my gpa died it was a junkyard out back. They too just toss their trash out there. My birds have dug up some piece to old porcalin dishes. We put in a garden this year and found loads of random stuff. Marbles that were my dad's, a monkey from a barrel of monkeys, a purple crayon, a hair clip from my aunt, lots of glass, coal. Out in the woods I found old bathroom tiles. I keep hoping to dig up a jar full of $$. lol
I hope you find treasure there! All I find is what my Beetov-hen digs up, shiny stuff. Lot's of broken glass.

Hopefully nobody in the household starts to complain about how expensive those eggs are when they start laying reliably for you. Do you have a general idea of how you are going to frame out the roof? I know you have yet to pick up your fencing material(and spoiler alert I read ahead a teensy bit). I do also like your german reference to "Macht's nichts".

Keep up the good work for your flock!

Picked up left over metal roof panels from a pole building builder. 36W x 12'L for $1.50 a foot. Thinking about a pergola type roof frame to attach to the top of the dog kennel. Thoughts?
