Most likely they are muts... but, they SHOULD lay eggs.... EVENTUALLY...I still don't know a damn thing...lol I'm forever looking up breeds but I can't seem to match any of them to a particular breed. I think they are all mutts... I'll find a pic that looks similar to one of my chickens...then the legs are the wrong color....or the comb thingie isn't the same...beak a different color...The only thing I know is that they are over 3 months old...

Omgosh no free ranging! I'd never put them at risk to be plucked by a hawk or anything. I'd be a basket case if that happened...give them a few more weeks are they free ranging anywhere look for hidden nests but most probably it is the change and time of year

I don't know what age chickens start laying...or even how old my little ladies are now...
It will be a happy surprise when I see that first egg!![]()
What is the "egg song"?When you get that first egg, you'll want to frame it
If it makes you feel any better, my girls were giving me ~20/day and then I had to change their feed. The adult hens went into a hard molt and the ducks just quit laying. We've gotten 8 eggs since September 5. And those in the last week or so.
Once the ducks quit, they won't start up again until spring. But at least the adult hens have started back at it. My young girls like yours just haven't gotten ready to lay yet, but I did hear one yesterday singing the egg song, so we might be close.![]()
Ok folks, how do we describe it?What is the "egg song"?
