Where did you get your chickens' names

I decided to go the hurricane route, figuring it would enable me to recognize generations by their names. Since these are my first chickens (and all girls), I named them:

Light Brahma - Acadia
BR - Alexandria
SLW - Ariel
Buff Orpington - Augusta
Speckled Sussex - Annabelle
Delaware - Anastasia

The guineas .. well, they're just The Guineas, or if they're tearing around as a mob, The Guinea Gang.

Love the names. We have a "Specs", too. He is a speckled sussex rooster-was supposed to be a pullet. He is a bit aggressive with the hens so we may have to get rid of him.

Ooookay, here goes:
Hawkeye, Barred Rock, after Last of the Mohicans character
Pure RIR's: Ruby, Reba, Rosemary, Scarlett-color, of course
RIR/Buff Orp: Nutmeg, called Meg or Meggie, for her color
Barred Rocks: Lexie, Ivy, Becca and Mandy, named by DH
Buff Orpingtons: Sunny & Ginger, color-related
SLWyandottes: Lacy, Lorelei & Violet
Speckled Sussex: Nelda, name of childhood friend
Blue Ameraucanas: Silver & Charlotte
Black Ameraucana cockerel: Scout (also, Last of the Mohicans when Maj. Heyward called Hawkeye "Scout")
Blue Orpingtons: Suede, Velvet & Skye -obvious reasons
Lt. Brahma: Miranda, soap character
Buff Brahma: Caroline, soap character
3 Cochin/Silkie X Barred Rocks: Tux, because she used to have a white chest as a chick
Olivia, after a young friend who loves my chickens
Kate, after my friend who gave me the hatching eggs.
EE/ Barred Rock cross girls: Hazel & Iris, no particular reason, except for my DH's Aunt Iris died recently

Speckledhen, Wow I am impressed. I only have nine, all of them different breeds except for two.

How do you keep track of them all? Don't they all look alike, at least the same breed ones?

Love the names too.

I want to start naming all of mine after different breeds of birds. For instance, my favorite hen (who pased away recently) was named Duke. Which always eared me a raised eyebrow. I also have a golden colored polish I named Phoenix. Besides the fact that she's golden colored, I named her that because MAN are polish ugly when they are adolecents, and now she is a beautiful bird. ^^ She truely rose from the ashes.
I have a black cochin that I got from a friend. She had named her Mildred. So I changed it to Mildew, since she's dumb, and because of her greenish sheen in the sunlight.
I want to eventually name all my new chickens stuff like:
Turkey
Ostrich
Vulture
Hawk
Falcon
Eagle
Robin
Sparrow
ect...

I was reading The Mists Of Avalon when naming my chickens, and listening to Nina Simone. Hence the King Arthur and Buttercup names, respectively.

My cochins used to be really, really mean no matter how much they were held and petted as chicks. So I named them after dictators and serial killers. They have since gotten nicer and allow themselves to be held.

We have noodle and nugget who my dad named, although he would never actually eat them,
daisy- White Frizzle Cochin
Oreo- White crested black polish named because she looks like an oreo
Mildred/Mildew- Black cochin with green sheen, hence Mildew
Rocky-Barred Rock, self explanatory
Lucky- Aracauna that we thought was a roo, but was actually a hen; she was lucky
Perry- Aracauna that looked like a peregrine falcon as a chick
Lola-White silkie, named after thhe song, "Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl!"
Lulu- White Silkie named after Lola
Fishy- Salmon Faverolle, my little brother named her.
Marble- Silver laced polish, her color looks like marble
Buffy- Buff Brahma, self explanatory
Phoenix- Red crested red polish looked like a phoenix as a chick
Uh-Oh- Black crested white polish, she has had WAY too many accidents in her life, so she was dubbed Uh-Oh

Good idea!

Turtle is a 13yr old girl in a good book called 'The Westing Game'.
Carbon sounds cool.
Same with Sailor Moon.
