Where did you get your chickens' names

ummm...not sure, just special i guess!

It is pretty easy, they are all mostly different breeds, so easy to tell them apart, and the ones that look alike are named in themes, so it is easier to remember them. For instance I had two barred rock hens named Thelma and Louise, pretty easy to remember that! He he he he!

They all come from our 6 year old's imagination.

DarkSide, Linus, Glasses, Fluffy, Poopy, Barnyard Owl...etc. We love them all!

Some sort of 'earned' their names, some came from their breed types, other names just popped in my head for no particular reason:

Millie (from milefiori because of her coloring)
Lucy
Buffy (Buff Orpington)
Goldie (the darker gold Buff Orpington)
Myrtle (from Moaning Myrtle of HP fame - she's always complaining about something)
Lois
Cleo (from Cleopatra because of 'eyeliner' as peep)
Suzie Q
Mrs. Beasley
Lacey (Golden Laced Wyandotte)
Sophia
Heidi
Coco
Cookie (Cuckoo Maran)
Yona
Wynona (Columbian Wyandotte)
Bernadette
Barbie (I thought she was a Barred Rock)
Lil'Brownie (She came with her name-and it fits!)

Hey Y'all, Maybe we need a page on this site of just a list of chicken names. As you name someone new, add it to the list and then we can all enjoy them. HMMMM, who do we talk to about that???

The only one I've named so far is my silkie roo - Mr. Bojangles and that's because that's what I think of when I see him.

I think I'm going to name my brahma roo Yoda, though he seems a little feisty to be a yoda.

Our first little cockerel to attempt crowing at 4 weeks old was immediately dubbed Jeremy after a friend of my son (he was a very precocious young teen); another cockerel is named Snowball because we thought for a long time that he was a pullet. The only pullet from this trio of frizzle cochens is named Fluffy. We have OEGB's named Clyde and Bonnie. Also a pair of Dutch Bantam pullets named Violet and Iris (who really deserves the name Houdini!) The Salmon Favorelles are so much alike, just a very slight difference in size that they are collectively The Gabors. If all together in a group, I can distinguish who's who (of course, Magda, ZsaZsa and Ava) The EEs are Lucy and Henrietta. BLRWs are named Lacey, Chantilly and Eyelet (usually called Lettie). Dominiques are Fussy and Grumpy (they grumble alot and do not like being held.) A bantam EE named Specks. Three Buff Orpingtons named Buffy, Blondie, and Goldie. One little red/white feathered pullet that was supposed to be a BO named Reba.
