Where did you order/get your runners from?

Steve those are gorgeous! I just love their coloring!

How hard are duck eggs to incubate anyway? Dont' you have to mist them every day & all that?

I'm thinking if my old hen Myrtle goes broody again on me, I'll give the job to her.

Runner eggs aren't that hard to incubate at all. For us the Muscovy eggs are the hard ones to hatch. The runner eggs we don't mist you just have the humidity set higher, the Muscovies you have to mist - they seem to do best dripping wet.

Here's my Holderread show stock:

The drake with the black bill is show quality and the drake behind him is show breeder quality... from Holderread

This is Choopiter a blue runner from Metzers... egg producer/pet quality

Bad quality picture, but the two on the right are fawn/white runners (also from Metzers), more upright than Choopiter, but not nearly as upright as the blacks from Holderreads

And this is a closeup of Molly, fawn/white from Metzers:

I am so glad that I found this thread, as my eggs from "andreaseggs" just came today! I am always a bit worried with my first hatch from any new source. It's good to know that she is so highly recommended. All that I need to worry about now is that they may have gotten too cold during transit.

I have learned that I don't need to mist these eggs, that they take 28 days to hatch and that I quit turning them on day 25 and that they need to be kept at 99.5 degrees, but I am having a hard time finding specifics on humidity levels. Can anyone help me out here?

Congrats on the egg! I can't wait to get an egg from one of my silkies! Not only will it be their first "homemade" egg, but it will be mine too!

I have a Little Giant Still Air incubator. I know that the humidity for ducks is higher, but I don't know how high to keep it... I had considered the idea of snatching up any eggs that I do find from my girls and hatching it in the bator, but I am sure that I won't be able to do that, with the duck eggs in there!

Oh well, I should probably let her make her first baby herself anyhow! lol

rainplace: thank you so much for sharring your pictures! That is exactly what I was looking for.

Everyone has beautiful runners...makes me want them even more!

after trying to hatch grey runners from eggs from ebay, only one hatched. a beautiful boy. after i ordered 4 newborn ducklings from natures hatchery, they have blue, fawn & white, black, and chocolate. i got one of each, one boy and three girls. i called in the order and had them sexed for no fee. entire price with 24 hour shipping of hatchlings cost me around 75$ good luck, i love my runners, these have a great tall upright stance too.

I hatched my runners from eggs I got from Metzer. I've been real pleased. I have 3 black and 4 fawn and white.

A black Drake I haven't named him but my students were calling him "Ruffles" Maybe "Mr. Ruffles"
