Where do I find female button quail

i personally would check on the CL over ordering or hatch more......i had a lone male for for 5 months who lived with my other birds with no issue. unfortunately on the same day his potential mate hatched, i lost him in a bad predator attack on my aviary.....but if that had not happened, he would be joining the new buttons now.

That is so sad about your lone male. I wonder if someone could tell me if 2 males alone together would possibly fight during the day. I am gone from home for 10 hours a day. The last 2 nights I have come home to find my white button hiding and I can tell he has been there for awhile because the ground is warm where he was sitting. He doesn't show any marks of being hurt.

theoretically males shouldn’t fight unless they can see or be in with females.....thus the creation of a “bachelor pen” when have too many males. but sounds like they are just creating the “pecking order” with one male being dominant over the other (if you are 100% sure both are male)

I have several bachelor pens. I have had one issue in an pen that was all normals and one silver. The silver was getting picked on. I removed the silver and everything calmed down. I have other pens with a 50/50 split of colors, and they work fine.

I have had my husband pay attention to them today and he says there is no sign of fighting. Possibly it is because we built a duplex outside for if I ever do get some females. This pen is on the ground with grass and lots of hiding places. Maybe they haven't adjusted to the move?

Well.. 'Hiding' is natural for quail. If they are not foraging or dust bathing, they'll most likely prefer to spend their time resting somewhere secluded. He might not be 'hiding' from the other bird, but rather from any danger the World might contain. I wouldn't worry as long as he looks healthy and eats and drinks as usual.
