Where do you guys keep your supplies?

I just use large lidded plastic trash cans secured with bungee cords… one for feed, one for beddings. A large fillable water barrel. All sit behind our shed out of site. So far all works great, but I’ve only been at it for few weeks:). Loving my chickens!

I use clear plastic storage tubs and organize them into three main categories:
  1. Herbal Items – things like Coop Fresh, mite repellents, and all the lovely spa-scented stuff.
  2. Medical Supplies – great to have on hand for hurricanes too; includes vitamins, antibiotics, etc.
  3. Feed & Treats – dried larvae, crumbles, and the ridiculously overpriced scratch my girls refuse to eat because annoying me is their favorite hobby.
So, that’s three bins just for the chickens. I do have another bin/brooder tub (with heat lamps and such), but that one overlaps with the parrots, so it doesn’t really count in the “chicken-math” setup.

I dont do hay, I have a sand/dirt base. I do woodchips in the roost area/boxes. That is straight to the mechanical room.

Right now, I keep everything in the utility room since it’s close to the temporary coop. Once we move the coop, everything will go downstairs to the mechanical room- which is a walkout in the mountain—which is huge (around 30x50ft) and already houses the solar batteries, pool filter, water purifier, etc. If I could just get my landscaping and painting supplies under control, there’d be plenty of space. Sigh.

In the end, I’d recommend storing it wherever is most convenient for you—because if it’s too far away- or things like hay produce so much dust, it becomes a hassle fast.

We have a finished coop and run with the chicks happily out in it now! But I'm wondering where/how to store all the food and chicken supplies? My thought was the garage, but it's a bit of a hike for us. Thanks for sharing what you do!
I have a lot of birds/feed and it attracts rodents. I bought a $40 container on wheels made of solid aluminum. Will hold around 500lbs of feed.

If you use plastic, they chew through.

Has a heavy lid, attached (and lock) so its only not (bear proof).

I keep it, outside, next to their run that contains their coop.

(Mine free range, I just have a 20'*20' run that I use if I need to keep them pulled close to the house and not out in the woods).

Keeps rodents from wanting to get into my garage; They will smell the feed regardless if its contained and they WILL try to get to it. In your house/In your garage it does not matter.

I found an old ‘dock box’ that I can store three bags of feed in. Works great. If you know anyone that owns a boat, they may be able to ask around

Like woodworm said steel bins with lids work really well. That is what I use and it keep any type of animal out. If you live at a place with a rat problem a garage would work if you are very clean. Rat and mice just appear randomly so with just a little bit of a spill is bad. I have a horse so I have a trailer to keep it in. But you should not have to buy a storage container. If you or your husband build a little on to your chicken coop it would even better. It does not have to be very big either. Just something to put some bins in. But best of luck with your chickens.

if its steel, just make sure its painted to slow down oxidation and to allow it to survive the elements longer. Even galvanization wears off over time.
