Where do you inject Tylan 50 into a chicken?

I can do it if everthing is all ready before. But helpers are always good, especially if you have to wrangle the chickens. After dark on the roost is a good time to grab them, while wearing a red headlamp, but other times are a pain. It would be easier to treat only sick birds. If you can find a vet who will give you Tylan Soluble Powder, you can mix 1 tsp into a gallon of water for 5 days. Sick birds may not drink well, and must be encouraged to drink.

I forgot to ask how you diagnosed the MG. What symptoms are you seeing? Many diseases are caused by viruses, and antibiotics may not be necessary. They can, however, help to prevent secondary bacterial infections. Some diseases may be caused by fungus, and they are not affected by antibiotics. Here is a good link to read about MG, coryza, ILT, and infectious bronchitis:

I diagnosed them myself with a little help from the website and my friends at the 4H.

What symptoms have you seen in the sick birds? MG causes watery eyes with foam or bubbles, and in severe cases, there may be swelling of an eyelid or the face from sinus infection. Mild cases may look exactly like infectious bronchitis, which antibiotics do not help. Chickens with IB may be carriers for 5 months to a year. IB tends to spread through a flock rapidly where MG may not affect every bird, but just a couple. Testing through your local extention agent would be good to do to find what is going on. You cannot show birds who have had amrespiratory disease.

Were they around other sick birds? Respiratory diseases such as MG, coryza, and ILT can make carriers of your whole flock just by exposure, whether any other birds get sick. Giving them Tylan may not hurt them, but using antibiotics unnecessarily in viruses can lead to antibiotic resistance. If you have other birds, and these birds came from somewhere else, they may become sick from the chicks.
