If you put chicks in a brooder and never handle them or be around them they will be afraid and run from you.
I have a juvenile coop, I built a escape floor about 2 foot by four foot,6 inches off the floor, with a small hole in the middle of it and it is open on the sides. I put my chicks in with the big juveniles as soon as they are feathered. Its a little scary the first day or so and I try to watch them as much as I can. The result Ive been getting is ,in about a week or so there all roosting together.
At this point I can touch and pet them all at lock down. Happy chickens!:)
