Here's a rooster that we were going to process, but he's a really good rooster to "his" hens. An the fact that Bruce let him have hens makes a difference. Sort of like the Bruce seal of approval...so now I have a silkie rooster I need to give away. I'm not going to process a silkie...lol
400

We have technically 2 more roosters than we need, but I'm alright with 2. But with 3 none of the eggs are getting fertilized. The boys are too busy chasing each other off the hens to actually breed any themselves...so one of the has to go. An it isn't going to be Bruce! It's either Bruce's little friend, that since he is a good rooster and we have a few hens too small for Bruce to be even interested in, I think we will keep this guy too...don't know what to call him yet though. The silkie tries to flog us. He's just so small that its comical more than dangerous, and I think Bruce finally broke him of messing with us, either way the silkie is no good. I wanted him to have some fuzz mixed babies, but Bruce didn't like him from the start an I should have trusted Bruce in the beginning...anyway in rambling

We run a 'Rooster Rescue' here..we currently have 29 of the buggers (yeah..my neighbours love me ha ha ha!)
will round them up for a photo shoot tomorrow :)

Miss, bruce is very handsome. He is very kind to help his ladies of the ramp.lol.
So is your other rooster that bruce likes. Can't you sell the silkies to the Asian restaurants? The love dark skinned chickens.

Spish. 29 roosters WOW

.I'm sure your neighbors love you.lol. Can't wait to see them all lined up.

Ooo new roosters! They are all so pretty. The post about the boys having lightsaber fights reminds me of my son running amok among my flock. They learned to ignore him! Ill try to get some pics of my boys free ranging with my girls up tomorrow. They have gotten some more coloring in. I love this thread. :) getting to see all the different breeds and mixes of roosters is awesome and educational. Lets keep Em coming!

Bruce likes the cockerel that we ended up with out of a set of barnyard mix bantams we got with their mom. Out of 7 2 were cockerels, but one pullet, and one cockerel didn't make it. We got them already feathered, and those 2 became paralyzed, the cockerel in one foot at first, and then his neck. The pullet went scissor legged. I'm assuming it was marek's, but I didn't send them off for testing, so as I said I assumed it was marek's and just keep on keeping on. And now that I mention that I guess I can't give the silkie away...then again he might have been who have us the marek's. or since I got my first chickens as adults perhaps they had it...either way if it was marek's none of my chickens should go anywhere but here. I guess we'll get to see what silkies taste like...I bet they're hard to pluck.
