You can call around to all of the feed stores and farm/ranch supply stores in your area. I had to call about 10 to find the breeds I was interested in all in one spot the week I want them.
They generally put their orders in to the hatcheries weeks to months in advance. You can ask them if they have specific breeds you are looking for that arrive the same week. They should be able to tell you what is coming in any given week and what date they expect them to arrive. I found a store about 90 miles away getting the 3 breeds of pullets I am interested in all the same week so I have reserved them and can pick them up when they get in.
Were you interested in all of one breed or a variety pack? Most of the stores around here will order a specific breed in for you with a minimum of 5 chicks of that breed. That way you don't have to pay shipping. Some stores have a minimal mark-up too. I think they figure they make their money on all the supplies and feed you are going to get!
I would try to get them at a store vs getting them shipped just because you can look at each chick and pick the ones that look healthiest or have the nicest coloring or personality or what ever you are looking for.
