Hi, it’s me Kayla again!
After watching a video that @Brahma Chicken5000 shared...
I was wondering where I could find ex battery hens. I want to help the poor hens have a better quality of life, and be able to be happy hens once again. I really want to help make a difference, where do I get these hens?
Thanks!

Have you asked around in your state thread?
I wouldn't have a clue where to look for these type of birds in Texas.

I think that's awesome! My mom's first flock was ex-battery hens.. white leghorns. The man who delivered them (gently) dumped them out on the coop floor, and the poor things just laid there, they couldn't walk. In about a week they were getting out of the coop and free ranging around the farm. Ex-battery hens have a special place in my heart.

Thank you for sharing that!

Call the number on an egg carton from the store. Most factories (they are not farms) kill all birds when they hit 18 months of age. Spent hens go for $2-$3 and laying hens go for $10-$12. I want to get 2 exbattery hens myself so I can educate people where their eggs really come from.
Aww poor hens! I’ll call later today (it’s only 5:30 at the moment)

Oh and good luck with your future 2!!
