Where to keep baby chicks?

Hi, we just bought a farm about a year ago and I would really like to start raising chickens. We have greenhouses on the property and and storefront that is also a greenhouse. I was wondering if I could keep the baby chicks in the greenhouse until they were old enough to put in the coop outside? I was hoping that if I kept them in the store, customers would be able to see the baby chicks. I am nervous about keeping them in my house because I have 2 cats and 2 toddlers, I don't think all the chicks would survive:) I figured I would have a heat lamp for at night, but during the day the greenhouse would be warm enough. How warm is too warm for baby chicks? Thanks!

I'd get one of those thermometers that record minimums and maximums, and check your temps for a bit before you consider it. I have a dog and two small children (2 and 5) and haven't had problems brooding in the house. In fact...I have babies in the living room brooder RIGHT NOW. (poults)

As a general rule of thumb, chicks need to start at 90-95F the first week, then decrease by 5 degrees each week.
