Besides yard sales, buying your fruit and vegetables at local farmers' markets and farm stands will keep the money VERY LOCAL (As opposed to grocery-store produce from mexico etc.)

We've been making a concerted effort to keep our dollars local. Last Christmas only a handfull of gifts we bought were imported. Most were either bought at locally-owned shops or ordered from U.S. artisans like Southern28chick's soap, and handmade items on Etsy.com.

It feels good. AND the food tasts better.

Does anyone have any specifics on the checks?

I know there is some kind of cap on income. Someone told me though there was a cap on how much the total check could be.

I was told $1200.00 was the max check, but I also heard you got $600.00 per adult and $300.00 per child.

I may offend some people here, but if there is a max, I don't think it is fair that a single parent with two kids get the same amount as two parents with more kids. I'm not picking on single parents it's just a issue with numbers.

So, does anyone have the facts?

Last time around, ours went in the bank.

Pretty much the same this time, except we are hoping to start a CD for paying our property taxes, in the hopes of earning a little interest before the county takes that large sum away every year.

What steams me is that my neighbors, in the interest of paving our rustic dirt road, want everyone to throw their stimulus money into their hat. As if. The guy who I talked to about it said something along the lines of just pretending you never received the money in the first place. Mmm K. It would be one thing if I WANTED a paved road, but I moved here in appreciation of the dirt one. I think, based upon how much it would cost to pave and how many neighbors we have, that these clowns actually believe couples will receive $1,200. From what I read that is not true. Most couples will get $600. You get more if you have dependent children, to a max of $1,200. So even if we do hand the highway robbers our stimulus check, it won't get them very far!

So, whomever told me there was a cap of $1200.00 was wrong. I found out I am getting $150.00 less than my original estimate because of higher income, but hey, "It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick".
