Where to Spend Your Economic Stimulus Check...

You know what really gets me? Someone making $160,000 a year gets a bigger check than, say our household who didn't even cap $26,000 last year.

Hello? Uh, no offense to anyone who may actually make that much, but I think our family, who is a single income could use that extra couple of hundred dollars.

My husband thinks we're going to get more than the website says we're going to get, and has all ready spent the bulk of it on a newer tractor with a snowblower attachment. I was counting on a few hundred to catch up on some bills.

So much for that.

Well, considering our wish list is way more than we are going to get...

We need a new refrigerator- the defrost on the freezer keeps leaking water onto the floor. For the last 2 years:rolleyes:. We've been shopping around. Even a CHEAP refrige around here is close to $2000!!! I may keep mopping the floor for awhile.

Then SO also wants a rototiller for the garden so we can put in a bigger one and not by hand. Well, I am not mechanically inclined, but if there is a rototiller that works on New England rocks, I'd go for it as long as I don't have to use it.

We are also making a foray into beekeeping and can pay for that.

Mine will get eaten up in the check book paying regular type bills that have doubled.

:-( Something gotta give. Or its going to break a lot of good hard working peoples backs :-(

We are building a new hen house, getting some gravel, and buying a half a pig. I am sure it will go quick I guess it is good to have 4 kids:lau they sure cost me alot more then the $300.00 bucks I get for them 4 boys eat that much in a month:he

As to whether or not we owe our stimulus check back next year (or will be taxed on it as "other income"), I think the only way to know for sure will be to look at next year's tax forms. Until then, I think it is only speculation.

Not sure what we will do with our check but I sure hope we dont have to pay that back next year...it would really set us back big time. If it is true that we have to pay it back, then it defeats the purpose of using the check and give it back to the govt and say NO THANKS but you are going to hurt us again by taxing us more!

No one knows for sure if we do need to pay it back......anyone doing any research on this?

Now I thought that the cap was 150,000 for a married couple and everyone gets the same 600 per adult and 300 per child. So how is someone that make 160,000 going to get more. They change everything so often I can't keep up. I am saving mine.
