The bulk of my feed is in the garage in metal trash cans. The actual feeder is outside under a roofed overhang in a smaller metal trash can. If something is going to go after the feed at night, I'd rather it do it away from the coop.

I also keep in metal trash can with silicone in inside of lid handle. It's hard for me to get off so no problem with varmints removing lid. I agree to keep out of run and coop so not to attract them to chickensI keep mine in one of those 31gal. Behren metal trash cans. They're tall enough that a raccoon isn't going to get leverage to remove the lid, or at least none have yet, and I don't have to worry about anything larger than that unless a 2-legged predator trespasses to see what's in the can. That size holds 2 bags-worth of feed.
This really works for me. No rodents, no predators. Hope you get your sewing room back!!View attachment 3180883
I know that Privett Hatchery has Sultan's still! Not sure about Silkies. I've had good luck with Privett.Sultan, Silkie)
Good to know. I want to get the second batch all together so they may brood together. I have first batch still in brooder at this time. I figure they won't move out within four weeks (they are only a week old).I know that Privett Hatchery has Sultan's still! Not sure about Silkies. I've had good luck with Privett.![]()
