which 6 chicken breeds are better

yes i have they are all good reviews for all of the breeds but i need some help narrowing it down to 6 different breeds

I love my australorp and my barred rock the best. I've only had one of each. My granddaughter loves her black sex link the best. This little pullet lets the 4 yr old carry her around, take her on the slide....and is still super friendly.. and IS an excellent egg layer!

so far i will get a barred rock a speckled sussex and an austrolarp.

To a question such as yours there is no right or wrong answer. It comes down to what you want. Dual purpose? eggs? lots of eggs or just eggs? A multi colored basket or similar colored eggs? I want lots of cool colors.
My best layers are my California greys and Easter eggers. Those two varieties/breeds don't quit laying even in the coldest weather. But in addition to white and blue and teal and green and olive, I like pink, terra cotta, speckled and whatever else I can think of what to make.
Once you decide what you want your end result to be, it is easier to make the choices to get you there.

She said "friendly" and good layers.

"Liketo be held" is a tall order. The breeds you listed are friendly and social but your average bird will not want to be picked up. My fave are the Sussex. My girls would half-heartedly try to dodge me but once picked up would sigh and relent. Kind of reminded me of a cat ;)

I've had both very friendly and skittish EE but you get the pretty egg! My Welsummers come running and are very social with me but prefer not to be handled.

Best guess that the sex link would be the best layer followed by the Rock and Australorp.

I have had the Barred Rocks for 16 years and have gotten my groups from different hatcheries and still get the same over all heat and cold hardy bird, ability and temperament Great Dual for meat and eggs, and they get along with everyone and each other (all being BR's also) This year I have added New Hampshire reds as adolescence, no longer in the hot box they nice and get along but I am finding some of them pecky pushy, huge open area for them to reside indoors and endless access to outdoors (those individuals are no longer with us) Do have some Welsummers , just arrived today are black austrolorps, my last order scheduled for next month is more Barred Rocks and trying some Delawares . my Barred Rocks have stayed calm and friendly after growing up to enjoy them.
