So back in April I got 5 BLRW, at least 3 were supposed to be hens and 1 a rooster. Turns out I got 4 roosters and 1 hen. I'm supposed to be getting some girls to exchange for 3 of the boys in the next week or so. So my question is... How do I pick a rooster? One is a scaredy cat, which isn't quite what I'm looking for in a rooster, so I'm disqualifying him. I love my boys and they all seem to have good temperaments, so it's getting hard for me to pick which 2 to give up. I attached some pics. Just curious what you guys would do.

Rooster 1:

Rooster 2:

Rooster 3:

What are your goals? What do you want out of a rooster? Are you breeding for show? Are you breeding for meat? Are you breeding at all?

My goals are for meat and fertile eggs, plus I play with color and pattern. I choose an early maturing cockerel with the body conformation and other traits I want. I find the early maturing ones generally make better flock masters and win the respect of the hens better than the late maturing ones. Any that show human aggression are eliminated.

Yours are too young for their adult personality to show through. As they mature and become flock masters their personality can change. It can be a hard decision at that age and luck will be involved. Decide what your goals are and see if you can separate them based on your goals or at least eliminate another one. Then you are just going to have to choose.
