I’m looking into getting 2-3 pullets at the end of May. I have buff orps right now that I LOVE but I really want some colored eggs. Thinking marans/EE/ olive eggers? Are any of them docile? I want friendly chickens! Maybe even some bantams? Any suggestions?

My EEs are very docile.

Whenever I see EE chicks at the feed store they all have the chipmunk markings. How can you tell what color they will be fully grown?
I don't know as you can. EE's tend to vary in color anyway. BTW. I have 3 EE roosters and they are about as tame as roosters get but good flock protectors.

There is no way to know until they are grown.my French black copper maran is the sweetest thing, only problem is that others like to pull her leg feathers. My ee's arent mean they just dont like being handled as much.

I think the chipmunk pattern ends up being a partridge type color but they are all different patterns because they are basically mutts.
I had one chipmunk and one that looked like a buff as chicks.
Below is what they looked like as 3-day old chicks and 7 month old pullets.

Okay! I’m not picky about color but prefer buff and blue so I was wondering if there was a way to tell as chicks. Thanks!
