Which breeds have you had good egg production from?

Hi. Last year at the first of March I got a bunch of EE and 5 Brown Leghorn chicks. I had a few losses in the EE and now have 5 BL and 10 EE, I think. I usually get 3 or 4 eggs a day from the BL and 8 or 9 from the EE. So both breeds are pretty productive. I raised them all together and handled them all the same. I started hand-feeding them meal worms at about a week old or so. The EE were pretty much all over me and still mob me when I feed them scratch every afternoon, though I don't pick them up and they are not pets. The BL from the beginning were more like wild birds and still are to this day. They keep their distance. But ... I did lose a couple of EE to predators and have not lost a single BL, one advantage of their more alert, "wild" nature.

The EE is my best layer and she seems to always lay early in the day.
Our BO are good layers but lay at all hours of the day.

White Leghorns have always been the best layers for me. I have two now with three more in the brooder. My two just went at least two months without a day off.

Only problem is most people want colored eggs instead of the boring x-large or jumbo white eggs of the Leghorn. But those big white eggs are a good compliment to all my other colored egg layers that I sell.

For me, the EEs and Barred Rocks are giving very good #s, as in 5-6 a week. The ISA Browns lay daily but mine are aggressive. I think that's an oddity for the breed. Also, I recently added 4 Hi-Lines which are production hens. They give me an egg a day each and their personalities are lovely.

Most chickens are very productive for the first 4 years. Leghorns, Anconas, Orpingtons, Australorps, Dominiques, Brahmas, Wyandottes, are all very productive breeds.

Are your Leghorns skittish or are they easily handled?

I edited my first post.
They don’t like to be held but I’ve never had one I would consider flighty. They are just good chickens I my book. I’m getting to the point that I don’t like friendly chickens anyway. I have three Speckled Sussex and they are constantly under my feet. My WL will stay just out of my reach which means I’m not tripping over them all the time.
If I ever had to pick one chicken to keep it would be 4 WL. But right now I’m selling eggs so I’m keeping chickens to give me all the colors.

Hello! So, I LOVE the friendliness and high egg production #'s coming from my Golden Comets (6-7 per week), however I don't like the reproductive issues that have started happening (egg bound, etc....) So, I'm needing some advice as to which chickens you've had the best egg output from..... I'll be adding close to 20 hens with the sole purpose of selling eggs and want breeds that can give me 5-6-7 eggs per week and is not a production hybrid. Any breeds you've had luck with??? Thanks!

My easter eggers and black australorps lay regularly. Their also both good meat chickens.
