Which bugs to feed a week old silkie??

Hi everyone! I have 6 week old silkie chicks. One of them, "Jelly Bean" chased down and eat a ant the other day! He loved it! Is it okay if I feed them and bugs? Which kind at this age?

They can eat any bug that fits in their mouth. I have got mine to eat slugs and snails by first cutting them up into very small pieces. Now they chase each other everytime one of them finds one trying to steal it, and I don't have a snail problem.

They can eat any bug that won't fit in their mouth too! mine will choke down impossibly large bugs including wasps...somehow they manage it.

I can place live large adult female Chinese mantids in a brooder with chicks less than a week old and no signs of mantis will remain after about 10 minutes or so. A given mantis weighs about 1/4 what my chicks weigh so swallowing whole is not occurring. Chicks first must kill mantis, then dismember it. The chases help with dismemberment. I will try to film this later.
