So I had one little orphan pekin that I had to figure out what to do with.
Thankfully, Willa appears to have zero discrimination 🤣🥰

Initially I put him under her and then waited to see what she would do. When he came out and started peeping cuz he was cold, she started clucking at him and opening her wings, trying to get him to go back under her.
I need some Willas in my red flock. They all are complete racists when it comes to chicks

She makes me feel bad I didn't let her go broody last year! I broke her twice. I just assumed cuz she's a production breed that she wouldn't be a great mom but she's really proving me wrong.

My black star like 10 years ago hatched a pair of Ducks. She was the least racist mama I had. The pheonix that hatched the quail tolerated her and let her snuggle, but if mama had been able to take the other chicks away. She probably wouldn't have looked back as she left her behind.

I've heard tattoo pain varies greatly depending on where on the body you get it. My sister has three and two are on the ribs, the other on her leg. She said the one on her leg just felt like someone scratching on her skin with a fingernail but the ones on her ribs were pretty tough.

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen the ones on my head but still freaks my hairdresser out almost every time 😂

I want one on my arm. Multiple actually lol and thigh. Please say forearm and thigh don’t hurt :lau
Forearm can be a bit uncomfortable…..thigh not as bad but can look more weird with extreme weight changes……ankle was worst for me

No, Pekin.
Honestly. The best hatches I've had have been when I forgot them in the incubator and didn't move them to the hatcher. So the humidity didn't get raised and they were still being turned or upright, not on their sides. For some reason, they tend to shrink wrap or hatch sticky in the hatcher.

My Orpington hens can be a bit weird about different chicks being different colors also.
