In the show Daybreak they hang out in a mall. Also another movie they do too. It’s a good idea because there’s lots of food, supplies, and most importantly, entertainment there. And it’s safe.

Pretty sure it was right on saying it's distemper.
It's been going on in various location. They've taken on calling them "zombie" racoons. I'm sure a search will find some news stories.
They are hard to trap cause their minds are being eaten up.

I must have missed that post. Either way, I'd be contacting the DNR
