Oh, ouch.
 
We spent several days in DC about 5 years ago. It was a very fun experience to walk around and see government buildings, the zoo, monuments, etc. But I would never want to live in a town, much less a bustling city.
I work in one 5 days a week driving job to job to job from 1 to 8 or 9 a day. I like to come home to my little part of the woods in the village
 
I'm sure I would enjoy the museums and such, I just don't think I could tolerate the city at all. I don't even go downtown here (town ~100k).
My daughter moved to Manhattan right after she graduated from high school. We visited her a few times. It was fun to visit, but I could never, ever, ever live there. It was exhausting.

I like the convenience of having access to whatever I want close by more or less 24x7.
On the flip side, there are several million people too many in my immediate vicinity.
