Just got an email from the principal. Today *might* be a snow day. It didn't snow much here, but our kids are from all over west county. Buses may not be operating.

That has always been my problem. Every one has been trying to keep up with the Jones.

It's gotten hard to buy personal gifts. We are getting DD & BF cards. I'm also ordering copies of 'Life on the Mississippi' by Mark Twain (he is studying to be a river pilot) and 'Propaganda' by Edward Bernays to place the cards in.

I absolutely LOVE the idea of putting the gift card in a book. Everyone in my fam is a voracious reader. Brilliant!

Fun fact: Auntie's younger son set a goal when in high school to read every novel in his school library. He did. He finished the last one,  Shogun, his senior year.

I trimmed my own hair when I was about 8. My mom was mortified. I don't remember it being all that bad.

My son cut my daughters when they were like 6 and 5. She had a head full of curly hair. He massacred it. They hid the hair under his bed and thought no one would notice. She comes into the kitchen and their mom about s**t herself. She called me at work and said get home right now your son has cut all your daughters hair off! I remember asking her what she thought I could do, glue it back on?

It was bad, though. Had to give my baby girl a GI Jane haircut.

But hair grows back, right? It's a rite of passage. Get LOTS of pictures to embarrass her later.

It's actually not bad at all. Only one snip and she left about 3 in long at the side of her forehead. Looks like bangs but off to the side. Phew
