Is it more economical to raise your own meat birds?
Not for us. Even though meat prices are going up, I looked at conventional chicken at the store the other day and it was still far cheaper than what we spend raising ours. We just care about how the chickens are raised and what they eat. We spend a lot of money on feed.

I'm so jealous that you are able to do this. If I brought home meat chickens, I think my hubby would snap. He would help me butcher them because he loves me, but he wouldn't be happy

Dang, I wish you were closer so it would be workable. I would totally come over and do a butcher day with you.

Me too. It’d take me like a month to butcher 100 birds. I have zero help when it comes to butchering, and with every bird I like to dissect their organs. :lau

Butchering 100 seems like it’d be easier emotionally than butchering like three. You probably get into a groove I’d think, and the chances of getting emotionally hooked up on any of them is highly unlikely.
