I had hostas. Hate them and pulled them out the first year we lived here. I have a nice rhodadendren(spelled wrong I'm sure) that blooms so pretty. I also have loads of tulips, hyacyinths, and daffodils. Then I plant the annuals. I enjoy planting, so to me, it's not work. I also have a lilac bush and snap dragons. Did have lilies but the dumbass dog ate them last year and got poisoned and I had to rush him to the er vet

I am supposed to have hostas. I know I put one (or two?) In the sad little flower bed. But they've never done a thing and never bloomed. it could be too much sun for them? But honestly, I've never seen a hosta not thrive before?!
