Thanks. We try to. But frequently feel like we are spending a fortune on feeding year round, providing mineral blocks, feeding additional protein in key periods etc, just to let the big ones walk so our neighbors who start feeding 2 days before season can shoot them.

A lot of people now days probably wouldn’t hunt at all if it was like it used to be before the deer populations were brought up.

In Alabama who even then had one of the bigger populations of White Tail you could only bag 1 buck a year and no doe. They would put you under the jail for killing a doe. It was not uncommon for people to hunt their whole life and not bag a buck. And in a lot of the State you had to travel to even be able to hunt them. Some parts of the State in the North didn’t even have deer or at least enough to have a season.

We have a ton this year, though mostly does. Thankfully, since a few years ago, the cowBoy next door decided the population was too inbred, so he was bringing every person that wanted to hunt to his property to shoot whatever They had a tag for so the population would be low enough that the game folks would bring in deer from other unrelated populations.
