My Black Sumatra rooster is my smartest because he has me wrapped around his little claws.

The smartest chickens I have seen are the wild EE's that are on my property (and everyone else's in this area) they seem to be mixed with some sort of gamefowl, and some I am almost positive are mixed with sumatra. The babies hatch knowing how to eat and drink, they know what water is immediatly upon seeing it. They choose very clever hiding places for thier eggs, one even put it's nest in my goose house, knowing that it was inside a pen, I believe. (why the geese permitted this we don't know) Several have come to our door when injured, we are not sure if they think we will help them or if it is a coincidence. One of them follows my mother when she waters the orchard trees and wades in the tree wells full of water to collect floating insects. They are also very good mothers.

All of my smartest chickens are Sex-links.

Queenie is a Redstar. She is by far the smartest of my adult hens. She always has been - earned her name way back in the day for bein Queen of the brooder! She figures EVERYTHING out first, and then leads the others! She's the bad troublemaker type, yet a good friendly pet, and has won her way even into DH's heart!!!!!!!!

Stripey and his brother are smart, personable black sexlink cockerels. They have the most personality, they are brave, outgoing, and use their little bird brains to figure things out. Their BSL sisters are pretty bright too, although they lack the entertaining cockerel antics.
